The award-winning Hambleton Bakery is to open in West Bridgford today.
Hambleton Bakery, which took the title of Britain’s Best Bakery in the 2012 ITV show of the same name, will open a new shop on Melton Road on Friday 25th April. Customers will be able to taste the delights that the bakery has to offer on the opening day, between 10am and 2pm, and have the opportunity to chat to Head Baker, Julian Carter.

Hambleton Bakery is famed for its artisan breads which include Sourdough, Spelt and Rye as well as delicious savouries, cakes and desserts. Head Baker, Julian Carter, is a 10th generation baker and was crowned Baker of the Year at the Bakery Industry Awards in 2013: “I particularly enjoy traditional bread making using starter doughs, long ferments plus local and natural ingredients. All of our bread, savouries and cakes are made without preservatives and as a result many of our customers are surprised at how different they are from supermarket loaves.”
Owned by Tim Hart, who also runs city centre hotel and restaurant Hart’s, as well as the Michelin starred Hambleton Hall on Rutland Water, the new shop is part of an expansion plan that has already seen the bakery premises at Exton in Rutland double in size.
Tim Hart, added, “The opportunity to introduce a new audience to the taste and flavour benefits of traditionally made bread is immensely exciting. Although Hambleton bread is already sold at delis and farm shops in the area, the Melton Road shop will allow us to showcase so much more of the range.

“Melton Road is the perfect location for us. It is fast becoming the recognised home of high quality independent shops in West Bridgford and surrounding villages.”
Hambleton Bakery is based in Exton, in Rutland. It currently supplies four shops (in Exton, Stamford, Oakham and Market Harborough) as well as around 50 farm shops, delis and restaurants throughout the region. For further information visit www.hambletonbakery.co.uk
