Road Closures for Cycle Live event

0

Cycle Live Nottingham takes place this weekend (Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2015) and includes a range of bike rides and activities. Due to the nature of this event, local residents of the embankment and cycling routes should expect a higher number of cyclists to be on the roads throughout the weekend, as well as temporary road closures.

The event commences on the morning of Saturday 20th June with the Nottingham City Ride, a family friendly, predominantly traffic-free route with three available. The start times for each ride vary through the day, with rides setting off from 10:00hrs through to 15:20hrs.

Sunday 21st June will see cyclists taking to the road to complete the long-standing Great Notts Bike Ride. Now in its 34th year, the ride comes in three distances – 25, 50 and 100 miles with waves of riders setting off between 7:00hrs and 11:30hrs.

In addition to an increased number of cyclists on the roads there are temporary road closures planned for the area surrounding Victoria Embankment over the weekend. This includes closure of the Victoria Embankment Road from 05:00hrs on Saturday 20th June until 21:00hrs on Sunday 21st June, and closure of Wilford Grove from 09:00hrs on Friday 19th June until 21:00hrs on Sunday 21st June.

There will be further traffic management provisions in place on Sunday 21st June for the Great Notts Bike Ride to include a coned lane on Trent Bridge northbound from 10:00hrs to 18:00hrs and additional signage and stewarding plans at various locations along the routes.
