Nottingham Riverside Festival 2016

The Nottingham Riverside Festival 2017 is Nottingham’s biggest free festival weekend offering three days of family entertainment. It is a unique and fun festival covering one mile along the banks of the River Trent, at Victoria Embankment, adjacent to Trent Bridge.

This year the festival takes place on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th, and Sunday 6th August.

Over 100,000 visitors from Nottingham City, the County and beyond are expected to attend this free event at the Victoria Embankment, over the three days.

On Saturday evening at around 10:30pm there is a spectacular firework display, which is the highlight of the weekend festivities

Friday: 6:30pm to 11pm

Fireworks Display

The spectacular fireworks display will take place at approx. 10.30pm on Saturday 5th August.

Children’s Zone

  • Saturday 5 August 12noon – 9pm
  • Sunday 6 August 12noon – 6pm

Your little ones will love the FREE activities in the Children’s Zone, including:

  • the building of a tree installation
  • puppet theatre
  • creating clay flowers
  • festival hat making
  • building your own kite
  • storytelling (from none other than Nottingham Playhouse’s Dame)
  • circus skills workshops
  • Nottinghamshire Scouts activity area.

Be aware that this year the Children’s Zone has moved from the Children’s Play Area (besides the paddling pool) to the Memorial Gardens at the rear of the War Memorial itself.

Street Theatre

  • Saturday 6 August 2pm – 9pm
  • Sunday 7 August 2pm – 6pm

Street Theatre performers will bring Nottingham’s largest outdoor festival to life, with comedy and animation performances to enjoy and amaze.

Dragon Boat racing

The Dragon Boat Challenge takes place on Sunday 6 August 2017 and up to 50 crews are expected to battle it out over the 200m race course on the River Trent at the Victoria Embankment watched by thousands of spectators.

Races will take place every 10 minutes between 11am to 4pm.

Planning your journey

Car parking is available, at a cost of £6 per car per day for all cars. Disabled parking for blue badge holders is also available close to the festival site, also at a cost of £6 per day. Out of courtesy for local residents, please do not park in the surrounding streets.

The entrance for public parking is via Riverside Way off Queens Drive.
