BBC’s Stuart Dixon To Open Lady Bay Open Gardens

The Lady Bay Open Gardens will be formally opened by BBC’s Radio Nottingham presenter Stuart Dixon at 42 Seymour Road on Saturday 30 June at 2pm.

The Lady Bay Open Gardens event, now in its 27th year will run from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday 30 June and Sunday 1 of July in over 20 gardens throughout Lady Bay in West Bridgford.

This popular two-day event will see 25 beautiful and varied gardens open to the public alongside entertainment, activities for children plus cake and plant stalls.  Look out for the special ‘Open Garden’ signs outside each participating property kindly provided by Winkworth Estate Agents.

All money raised over the weekend will be donated to Lady Bay Community Fund and various charities nominated by garden owners.  Tony Papkiewicz, the event Chairman said:

“This year is looking to be as fantastic as ever.  I’d like to say a special thank you to all the garden owners taking part as well as our event supporters Winkworth Estate Agent, Moores Nurseries and Garden Centre and Cockburn Lucas Independent Financial Consulting.”

Visitors can buy an Open Gardens entry programme for £3 for the two days (2pm to 6pm) from any participating garden, look out for the various signs throughout Lady Bay over the event weekend.  An Open Gardens map will be situated outside the Post Office on Trent Boulevard.

Free car parking is available at the Nottingham Rugby Club on Holme Road.

SATURDAY 30 JUNE

  • Formal event opening by BBC’s Radio Nottingham presenter Stuart Dixon at 2pm at 42 Seymour Road
  • West Bridgford Tuneless Choir and the Lady Bay Community Choir at 14.30 to 15.15 and 16.00 to 16.45 at 26 Seymour Road
  • The Black Peacock Belly Dancers at 15.00 to 15.15 and 17.00 to 17.15 at 30 Pierrepont Road
  • Strawberry Jammers 15.00 onwards at 131 Holme Road
  • Judging of the ‘Great Lady Bay British Bake Off’ in the Scout Hall at midday followed by a cake sale, the winners announcements at 12 noon
  • Jimmy Evans a local singer songwriter is performing at 194 Rutland Road at 14.30 and 16.00  in addition to piano playing due Piano4two playing periodically throughout the day
  • Have a Go 1 hour Pottery Cane Topper Workshops 14.00, 15.15 and 16.30 at 42 Seymour Road on both days of the event
  • Indian street food stall outside the pharmacy on Trent Boulevard all day
  • Craft sessions at Framework at 69-71 Trent Boulevard as well as hand drumming between 15.00 and 16.00 both days of the event
  • Singing from the Tuneless Choir at 26 Seymour Road, various times during the day
  • Games, Face Painting and Refreshments at 70 Holme Road

SUNDAY 1 JULY

  • The Sling Swingers will perform a selection of their favourite dances along with their babies! A gentle dance class for parents to enjoy whilst carrying their babies in slings or carriers. 15.30-16.00 at 26 Seymour Road
  • The Maids of Clifton Clog Team perform traditional and original, Garland, Stick and Hanky Dances from the North West of England! 15.00 – 15.20 and 16.15 – 16.35 at 26 Seymour Road
  • Homemade Korean food for sale at 20 Lady Bay Road
  • Have a Go 1 hour Pottery Cane Topper Workshops 14.00, 15.15 and 16.30 at 42 Seymour Road on both days of the event
  • The Lady Bay Aromatherapist is running drop in head massage sessions at Leonard Cheshire Disability on Julian Road on both days of the event
  • Craft sessions at Framework at 69-71 Trent Boulevard as well as hand drumming between 15.00 and 16.00 both days of the event
  • Jimmy Evans a local singer songwriter is performing at 194 Rutland Road at 14.30 and 16.00  in addition to piano playing due Piano4two playing periodically throughout the day
  • The Lady Bay Revellers Morris Dancers performing throughout the afternoon at 30 Pierrepont Road
