The County Council is installing temporary safety barriers to improve pedestrian safety around areas of West Bridgford prior to a number of summer sporting events. The barriers, which will be installed in early June, will be the same style as the existing ones on Trent Bridge. They will be situated on:

· Radcliffe Road (between Loughborough Road and Fox Road)

· Bridgford Road (between Loughborough Road and Hound Road)

· a section of Loughborough Road near the Southbank Pub (either side of Pavilion Road).

Installation of the barriers will take place overnight and there will be parking and lane restrictions in place during this period. Once the barriers are installed there will be no changes to existing parking and access. The barriers will be on the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground side of Radcliffe Road and Bridgford Road.

Councillor Gordon Wheeler, Vice-Chairman of the Communities and Place Committee, at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “We are working with our partners, including Nottinghamshire Police, to ensure pedestrian safety ahead of what we hope will be a fantastic summer of sport.”

The barriers are a temporary measure until a permanent solution can be developed. Similar measures have been taken at other venues around the country e.g. London Marathon.
