Rushcliffe Arena lights up pink and blue for Baby Loss Awareness Week

Rushcliffe Arena Pink and blue baby loss awareness week

Rushcliffe Arena is being illuminated in vibrant pink and blue lighting to reflect Baby Loss Awareness Week 2019.

The lights will shine each evening in the campaign’s official colours from October 9 to 15 as part of a display of support nationally for those that have suffered the tragic loss of their baby.

Lights in the roof above the facility and Rushcliffe Borough Council offices will shine brightly to welcome visitors as they arrive after dusk each evening.

Chief Executive of Rushcliffe Borough Council Kath Marriott said: “As Rushcliffe Arena once again lights up for Baby Loss Awareness Week, we hope that the pink and blue will foster conversations about baby loss and give local bereaved parents and families an opportunity to talk about their experiences.

“Each year, this week serves as an important opportunity to break the silence surrounding baby loss.

“We encourage the thousands affected by the devastating impact of losing a child in the UK to seek support from charities, healthcare providers and those who have shared similar experiences.”

In 2019, the initiative is also working towards tangible improvements in policy, research, bereavement care and support available for anyone affected by the death of a baby.

Residents are encouraged to join in the conversation on social media, sharing experiences and using the official hashtag #BLAW2019, in order to further break the silence on the subject.
