The owners of Trent Bridge’s Southbank Bar, West Bridgford have announced the site is set to
receive a significant refit and refurbishment this November to be reopened in time for Christmas.
The venue has been owned and operated for over 21 years by Dave Willans and Les Howard, the directors behind the Great Northern Group of venues in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire which currently stands at 11 venues, including a new Copper venue set to open in Bingham market place later this month.
The Southbank site will receive a £450k refit, incorporating a brand new outdoor terrace with a panoramic view of the River Trent and a new conservatory dining area alongside an extended and state-of-the-art kitchen.
Dave Willans, director of The Southbank Bar explained “The Southbank is our longest running venue and we felt it the time was perfect to give it a full and thorough refurbishment to bring it inline with the new development behind us. We have some very exciting plans in place to extend and improve the outdoor terrace which offers amazing views of the much-loved Trent and create a stylish and comfortable interior. We will be developing a brand new menu for our customers to enjoy in the new conservatory dining area, which will be freshly prepared by a new team of talented chefs in the fully extended new kitchen. We have a fantastic team of management, staff and external suppliers to help bring this vision to life and we can’t wait to get started and re-opened for the festive period.”
The proposed layout and style transformations will see the site become an all-day venue
incorporating brunch, lunch and evening menus as well as a wider range of hot drinks, soft drinks, cocktails and craft keg in addition to the range of Navigation ales customers enjoy currently. The venue will be open 7 days a week welcoming both diners and drinkers.
The wider offering and earlier opening times will allow the creation of up to 25 new job roles at the venue, in addition to the current management team and staff members.
The Southbank Bar’s last trading day will be the Derby County home fixture on the 9th November 2019 and it is due to re-open in time for customers to enjoy the festive season in the new and improved surroundings. The venue will be open 7 days a week offering a wider menu covering brunch, lunch and evening options, welcoming both diners and drinkers.
