Five men were arrested in West Bridgford last night after officers from Nottinghamshire Police stopped a suspected drug deal.
Officers spotted two parked cars in Holme Road at around 7.30pm on Sunday 8 December and, after smelling cannabis, investigated the scene.
The five men, aged 23, 23, 36, 40 and 45, were quickly arrested after officers found a quantity of Class A and Class B drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, in the cars.
All were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, with one of the 23-year-old men arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary and blackmail in connection with separate incidents.
The other 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of blackmail in connection with another incident.
The 36-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article after officers recovered a knife at the scene.
Detective Inspector Kim Binns, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our officers are committed to keeping our communities safe and last night’s arrests are an example of how, as a force, we endeavour to protect the public through proactive police work.”
