Donate Blood This New Years Eve in West Bridgford

NHS Blood and Transplant are calling for people to donate blood in West Bridgford on New Years Eve.

It is important that blood stocks are replenished over the Christmas period to help in the winter months to come, and you can help to do so. Regular donors are urgently needed.donate blood

The session is running from 09:40 until 13:40 on 31st December and is appointment only. All appointments will take place in Rushcliffe Arena, Off Rugby Road, West Bridgford, NG2 7ER.

Week of free concerts to be held at West Bridgford Methodist Church

West Bridgford Methodist Church are putting on a series of 7 concerts performed by local choirs and musicians on a specially created and colourful Christmas Tree stage.

West Bridgford Christmas Lights Switch on 2018

Bonfire Night is long gone, so that can only mean its time for the Christmas lights switch on! The annual West Bridgford Christmas lights switch on is taking place on Saturday 24th November 10am-6pm, sponsored by The Botanist.

Central Avenue, Gordon Road and Gordon Square will host an array of children’s fairground rides and activities, a food and gift market as well as festive theatre and live music. Many shops and cafes in this area will also be organising activities and events.

The YouNG Christmas Market will return for the second year on Gordon Square, featuring young entrepreneurs aged 13-21. In addition to stalls, there will be a free santa’s grotto, a christmas tree trail and performances from young musicians. For more information on the YouNG Christmas Market, click here.

Plumtree School will take the stage at 1:30pm, followed by The Tuneless Choir at 2:30pm, The Liberty Choir at 3:30pm and singer Katherine Dryden at 4pm. This leads up to the Christmas lights switch on at 5pm and big firework finale.

Don’t just head home after the finale! Visit one of the many bars or cafes in the town centre, including The Botanist who are hosting an after party.

Win tickets for West Bridgford Ginmas Festival

West Bridgford’s gin festival, which first took place in August, returns again on Saturday 24th November at Nottingham Rugby Football Club, Holme Road.

However, this time with a festive twist! Once again, there will be 36 gins to sample as well as mulled wine and sloe gin available to help get you merry. As well as a vast array of gins, there will be Christmas craft stalls, hot food and live music to enjoy- a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done before the festive period!

Tickets are £12 each, which includes one free gin. However there will be a £5 fee on the day in order to use a poly-carbonate gin glass, which will be fully refunded upon the return of the glass at the end of the night. Tickets are available for the Saturday 5-11pm session, and can be bought here.

We’ve teamed up with the festival to give away two tickets for Saturday 24th November, 5-11pm.

Christmas Lights Switch On 2016

The West Bridgford Christmas Lights Switch On takes place on Saturday 25th November 2016. There will be seasonal festivities throughout the day leading up to the big switch on at 5pm by the Mayor of Rushcliffe, followed by a firework finale.

This year there is a new addition – a FREE mini ice skating rink! Find it on Gordon Square on Saturday 26 November 12pm – 6pm. Skating will be free and slots can be booked on the day.

Lots of other attractions will be down on Gordon Square and Central Avenue including a YouNG Market with stalls by local young entrepreneurs, as well as lots of festive street theatre and music. Don’t slip up and miss out on the action!

As a result of the switch on Central Avenue and Gordon Square will be closed to all non-event traffic from 6am until 8pm. Buses that run along Central Avenue will be diverted by Bridgford Road (alongside Rushcliffe Contact Centre/ West Bridgford Police Station).

The Coca-Cola truck is coming to West Bridgford. Everyone knows Christmas is here when you see the twinkling lights of the Coca-Cola truck on their infamous Christmas advert.

The Coca-Cola advert has been an icon for Christmas since it was launched on TV in 1995. This year you can get closer to the Christmas magic as the Coca-Cola truck is heading to West Bridgford, Asda on the 16th December 2015.

You and your friends and family will be able to have your pictures taken with the truck as well as experiencing a snowy winter wonderland setting. You can do all this whilst enjoying a choice of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero or Coke Life. Get your cameras ready and join the Coca-Cola truck this Christmas. Who knows when you will get to see it again!?

West Bridgford Christmas Fayre 2014

The West Bridgford Christmas Fayre and tree lighting ceremony takes place on Gordon Road this Saturday (6th December 2014) from 2pm-6pm. There will be a market where local independent traders will be getting together to show off their festive treats, children’s fairground rides, festive entertainers and music throughout the afternoon, culminating in the switching on of the Christmas tree lights at 5.30pm.

Escabeche Christmas shop 2014

On Wednesday December 3rd from 1pm, West Bridgford’s escabeche host their second annual Christmas ‘Late Night Shopping’ event.

From early-afternoon on Wednesday, escabeche will host a unique pop-up shop of wonderfully imaginative, hand-made gifts from local designers including Rosehip Boutique, Rockvilla and Daisycat. As well as shopping there will be 10% off the main tapas menu on the night with every purchase made in the pop up shop.

Opening times:

Wednesday 3rd December from 1pm-4pm and then 7pm-10pm

Thursday 4th December 11am-4pm and 7pm-10pm

West Bridgford Christmas Lights Switch On 2014

The West Bridgford Christmas lights will be switched on this Saturday (29th November) on Central Avenue. The free family event will start at 9am and will include a festive market with over 50 stalls, a children’s fairground as well as lots of great offers and special events at local shops and cafes. There will also be lots of live music throughout the day including:

1pm – 1.45pm  Trinity School Show Band

2pm – 2.30pm  YouNG performer showcase

2.30pm – 3pm  West Bridgford Rock Choir

3.30pm – 4.30pm  Duette classic duo

The lights will be switched on at 5pm by the Mayor of Rushcliffe and Dino and Pete from Capital FM, followed by a finale firework show.

Please note: Central Avenue gets very busy in the countdown to the big switch on. For a family-friendly location to view the fireworks head to Bridgford Hall, just behind West Bridgford Library.
